It will be a historical event for volleyball in San Carlos de Bariloche, a city which has also played host to a women's Olympic qualification tournament in 2016 and to two continental under-21 championships. It will also be a historic event for Argentina after the South American country hosted a first Grand Slam on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in Corrientes in 2013.

The first two stages of the inaugural FIVB Snow Volleyball World Tour were held earlier this year in Wagrain-Kleinarl, Austria from March 28-31 and Plan de Corones/Kronplatz, Italy from April 4-7. The third stage in Bariloche will feature local and international competitiors, including Argentina's Virginia Zonta, Eugenia Túliz, Julieta Puntín and Cecilia Peralta, who won a bronze medal in the two previous stages and will now go for a new podium at home.

Governor Alberto Weretilneck said: "We are very happy because Argentina will be the first venue for a tournament that will have its first stage in South America, and we want to thank the Argentine Volleyball Federation, who have again returned to Rio Negro. After beach volleyball on the shores of our lake, Bariloche will now have snow volleyball in the first week of August."
